About

I am a nature and wildlife photographer with special interests in the birds, landscapes, and night skies of Northern Michigan.  I have been taking pictures since my grandparents gave me a point-and-shoot camera when I was a little kid.  While I have taken several photography courses, I am largely self-taught.  What started as a hobby became a passion, and I find a huge amount of joy in viewing our world through various lenses.  My hope as an artist is to inspire others to wonder at the immense beauty of wild places and creatures.

I am also a practicing physician.  People often ask me if I see a connection between photography and medicine.  I believe there is science in photography just as there is art in medicine, and I do think these disciplines compliment each other very well.

My work has been featured in the National Geographic Editor's Spotlight, and has been promoted in my hometown by the Watershed Center of Grand Traverse Bay, Traverse City Tourism, Pure Michigan, MyNorth.com, Fine Michigan Photography, the Traverse City Record Eagle, the Traverse City Opera House, Bay LIFE North Magazine, Michigan BLUE, and the Botanic Gardens.

Thank you, sincerely, to so many kind folks who have encouraged me and enjoyed my photographs.
